SPECIAL EDUCATION MEDIATION

Resolving IEP and ARD disputes — for your child's future.

As a Texas Education Agency rostered mediator, ReSync helps families and school districts resolve special education disputes through a confidential, voluntary mediation process that keeps the focus on the child.

What is Special Education Mediation?

When families and school districts disagree about a child's Individualized Education Program (IEP), ARD committee decisions, or Section 504 accommodations, mediation provides a structured, confidential process to resolve those disputes without the cost and adversarial nature of a due process hearing. ReSync is on the Texas Education Agency's roster of approved mediators and brings both professional expertise and personal commitment to every case.

How It Works

1

Request for Mediation

Either the family or the school district may request mediation through the Texas Education Agency.

2

Mediator Assignment

The TEA assigns a rostered mediator — such as ReSync — to the case.

3

Mediation Session

A confidential session is held with the family, school district representatives, and the mediator.

4

Agreement or Impasse

If agreement is reached, a written mediation agreement is signed. If not, the parties may pursue a due process hearing.
